Biography
The Damnnation is a power trio that emerged after guitarist Renata Petrelli (Marie Dolls, ex-Sinaya) and drummer Cynthia Tsai (Little Room, ex-Sinaya) decided to found a new band in early 2019. Looking for a bass player, Renata invited Camis Brandão, (Charlotte Matou um Cara), to join forces and make a kind of flexible and more organic metal, without getting caught up in stereotypes, putting all the good influences of the group and making new songs, with a unique sound and a lot of personality.
For the release of their first work, the band had Aline Dutchi (bassist) and Leonora Mölka (drummer). In early 2021, Leonora left the band, making room for Luana Diniz, a renowned drummer from Belo Horizonte/MG. On November 10, 2020, The Damnnation released their first work, the EP entitled ‘Parasite’, through the label Xaninho Discos. To promote the EP, the band released music videos for all tracks. The work brings an unprecedented and extremely heavy sound, a differentiated style within extreme metal that is difficult to classify in just one specific genre.
The band also participated in the main online festivals in Brazil and gained great prominence in the national and international media, being one of the great revelations of current national metal. The EP ‘Parasite’ won 9th place for best EP’s released in 2020, in a vote on the Metal Injection website. There were 40 titles in the voting, and the female power trio proved once again that ‘Parasite’ is one of the best albums released in 2020, representing National Metal. The track ‘Parasite’ also entered the official Spotify playlist, “Thrashers”.
In 2021 the band announced the recording of the long-awaited debut album “Way of Perdition”, which featured the production of the renowned Rogério Oliveira (worked on the praised EP “Parasite”) and Martin Furia (Destruction, Nervosa and BARK). The album was released on May 6, 2022, by the Dutch label Soulseller Records (Gorgoroth, Rotting Christ – previous years, among other well-known bands) in Europe and the USA and by Xaninho Discos in Latin America. The album received highly acclaimed highlights in several magazines, websites and ‘best of’ of the year 2022.
Due to the Pandemic, the band started playing live only in 2022, in more than 10 states in Brazil, and going abroad for their first international tour, playing in Argentina and Bolivia. 2023 was marked by focusing on the beginning of the production and recording of their second album “Eyes of Despair” in addition to playing at major festivals in the country, to highlight: Otacílio Rock Fest, in Santa Catarina and Abril Pro Rock, a renowned festival with more than 30 years, alongside bands such as Incantation (USA), Torture Squad, Crypta and etc in Recife, Pernambuco promoting the band’s first album “Way of Perdition”. In 2024 The Damnnation makes its first tour in the USA alongside Claustrophobia and Scars of Atrophy, renowned thrash metal bands from Brazil and the USA respectively, in addition to touring the south of the country, Rio de Janeiro and the interior of the state of São Paulo. In 2025 the band releases the 2nd album “Eyes of Despair” with the label Shinigami Records. The album marks a faster and heavier sound and features several female vocalists from brazilian metal scene: Mayara Puertas (Torture Squad), Daniela Serafim (Invisible Control, The Renegades Of Poisonville and MonsterSide) and Opus Mortis (ex-Paradise in Flames). Tours in unprecedented places and 3 shows already announced as support band for Nervosa. Currently, the band has besides Renata Petrelli as guitarist, vocalist and composer, Camila Almeida on Drums (Agravo) and Fernanda Lessa (Ancestral Malediction) on bass.
