The Damnnation – Eyes Of Despair
Described as “an album with plenty of anger poured out of the lungs,” the album is available on streaming and in physical form.
The Damnnation released their long-awaited new album, Eyes of Despair, this Friday, the 19th, via Shinigami Records.
Described as “an album with plenty of anger poured out of the lungs,” Eyes of Despair will be available on streaming and in physical form.
The successor to the acclaimed Way of Periditon, this is the power trio’s second full-length album, delivering weight, melody, and lyrics that echo situations of despair, fear, the unknown, injustice, femicide, isolation, loneliness, and our growth as human beings.
Regarding the songwriting process, founder, vocalist, and guitarist Renata Petrelli commented:
“It was a little different from the previous album. It’s more detailed in production, more time-consuming, and we took more risks. It started the same way, with me bringing the initial compositions, with the raw ideas for the instruments and lyrics. Then, we polished them in production, each putting their best effort into their instruments. I felt more comfortable with the vocals, and we once again had Mayara Puertas co-producing the vocals.”
The São Paulo band took a bold approach to Eyes of Despair, delivering a sound with a more traditional feel but without neglecting some modern elements. On this album, the band invited women from the Brazilian metal scene, as seen on the track “Battlefield,” which is a cry for freedom and equality. A weighty, powerful anthem of despair, featuring vocalist Opus Mortis (Paradise in Flames). “Evilness” features vocalist Daniela Serafim (Invisible Control). Another standout track is the ballad “Already Dead Inside,” featuring Mayara Puertas. The track features clean vocals and light orchestrations.
